Le Calvaire du Mont Arès is a former place of worship. Eleven oratories of stone and lime were built here, according to local peasant techniques around 1854-1860.

Each small chapel has an explanatory panel containing text about the history and old photos. In 1989 the place was classified as a Historical Monument and renovated.

It was through Josette Durrieu (General Councilor at the time) that a magnificent ‘green’ theater was built in the eighties. This amphitheater hosts various shows in season.

At the top of the hill is the ‘High Chapel’, which dates from 1863. The major piece is this superb crucifixion according to Saint John by ceramists Marito and Christian Soucaret, of Aix-en-Provence, in 2000.
