Start of the short climb to the ruins of the Château from the old church in the village Bramevaque.

The castle was built in the 12th and 13th century

Bird eye’s view from the top of the tower looking down on the ruins, the village Bramevaque and the valley Barousse. Access to the top is through a very narrow staircase lit by a few narrow slits in the thick walls.

There are several legends known about the castle, apparently Countess the Bramevaque was locked up by her husband in the tower.

The cruciform window covered by a semi-circular arch was part of the chapel’s wall. It consist of an inner cleft slot, enlarged to form a Latin cross, it is both a firing slot and a religious decorative element.
